Hello World!

I would imagine that most people who see a "Hello World" post (and whom are not from a software development background) would assume it was a precedent set by WordPress. Well, "Hello World" has been around long before WordPress.

Welcome to my home (page). I am going to be using this domain to host my own personal blog. That's right, you guessed it, the content will mainly revolve around technology within the computer science space. However, I have also allotted some room for rambling (as you have probably seen from the title).

The truth is, I like the write. That isn't to say: I like to publish. I'm sure that a lot of you feel the same. I have had a lot of people tell me they would write for hours, but they wouldn't dare show another person. Regardless, if there is one thing I have learnt in recent history, it's if you're not unsure about what you are doing, if you are living well within your means of comfort, well, you're probably doing it wrong.

Long story short: do things you don't like doing, it builds character, it builds rapport with people who need to be able to rely on you and ultimately, it makes you a stronger person. I have always criticised Nietzsche (or maybe it was Kanye?) for popularising the phrase:

“Out of life’s school of war—what doesn’t kill me, makes me stronger.”
— Nietzsche, F., 1889. The twilight of the idols.

When one considers the life this man led, I find that statement very difficult to believe. There are other aspects of his writing to take into consideration too, the influence of his sister in this particular case may be of issue. Did I start this blog to talk about philosophy? Not really, this is the rambling part.

So, maybe he was right after all.

Doc, This Is Heavy

I admit, for a "Hello World" style of introduction, I may have written a little too much, so I'll get to the point. I'm simply here to say: Hello! I'm going to be writing about:

  • Computer Science
  • Artificial Intelligence
  • Machine Learning
  • Natural Language Processing
  • Automated Reasoning
  • Computer Vision
  • Web Development
  • eCommerce
  • Automation In Our Jobs
  • Automation In Our Lives
  • Philosophy Of Mind
  • Philosophy In General
  • General Thoughts

I'm going to try and get at least one post out per month, not that anyone will bother to read them. But as I don't particularly like to publish my thoughts, and since it won't kill me (at least, I hope it won't), I see no downside to doing so.

Now, I suppose I better get back to work!
